Anyone who has a blog or website knows that one of the keys to success is having a large number of people visit your site on a regular basis. One of the more effective ways to increase readership is to gain a favorable position in relevant search results in the major Internet search engines. SEO or Search Engine Optimization has become an important buzz word in the industry. How do you know if your website is properly optimized to achieve favorable search engine position?
I recently came across a free web based tool called WebsiteGrader.com designed to give you a quick snapshot of how well your website or blog is optimized for favorable search engine placement as well as overall marketing effectiveness of your site.
Upon entering the URL of your website, WebsiteGrader.com will provide a score from 1 to 100 based on several criteria such as your website traffic, SEO tactics used, social popularity, inbound links and other technical factors.
Included in the results are suggestions to improve the marketing and SEO effectiveness of your website. Since it’s free, you can test your site on a regular basis to track improvements in your score. The site also allows you to enter related keywords to determine how your website ranks against those keywords regarding search results. You can also enter the URLs of competing websites of blogs in your chosen niche to receive a competitive analysis. There is also an option to have your test results sent to you by email.
Your can access WebsiteGrader here. I invite your comments regarding your experiences with this free website analysis tool.

Thanks for the helpful tool; I’ll be checking it out. I wondered if you have any particular keyword finders that you use. I’ve come across some on my own (i.e. http://www.goodkeywords.com/), but do you have a favorite?

I’ve used Wordtracker.com which is a popular paid service as well as the free Google Ad Words keyword tool with some success. I’ll also check out your suggestion.

Yes. I realize I code a little differently than the normal person when it comes to title and h tags. However, this program completely stinks. The score it spits out is merely based off page rank.
